FINE DINING

 Your host, Chef Alan Sparboe, was the Montana Chef’s Association 2005 “Chef of the Year.” A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, Alan personally selects all menu items and oversees every aspect of your dining experience.
Built in 1935, the Granary served as a milling site until World War II, after which it sat vacant until opening as a restaurant in 1976. The building and restaurant underwent a major transformation in 2004, reopening in its present design and configuration. Diners can choose from the bustling, yet comfortable, outdoor Patio with firepit, or the more intimate and luxurious Dining Room decorated with original murals by Montana artist J. K. Ralston.

CASUAL DINING
The Rex Hotel Patio Bar and Restaurant - 2401 Montana Avenue, Billings, MT, 245-7477 - Visit their website.
 Situated on historic Montana Avenue, across for the original Billings train depot, the Rex Hotel features turn-of-the-century décor and a rich history. Frequented by the likes of Buffalo Bill and Calamity Jane in its early days, the Rex now offers an authentic Western look and several different menus to choose from.
Diners can sit outside on the recently expanded Patio to savor those beautiful Montana evenings and enjoy a more casual evening, huddling a little closer to the fire-pit when the weather turns cool. Inside, the Patio Bar features a giant cast-in-place concrete bar with inlaid pictographs, with wooden beams and vaulted ceiling. The Rex Bar and Grill offers a lighter fare, while the Rex Patio and Restaurant menus feature finer dining choices.
The Rex Hotel was originally built in 1919 by Buffalo Bill Cody’s personal chef. It went through several reincarnations before owner and general manager Gene Burgad purchased it in 1983. Gene has continued the fine tradition of the Rex, in the heart of historic Billings, as a fixture on the Billings scene.
